Is lemon water good for your liver?

Our team at MedChunk loves Lemon. Today I am going to tell you several reasons why you should love lemons as much as we do.

The human liver is an organ and gland in the human body. It’s also a gland because it makes proteins and hormones that other parts of the body need. Weighing, on average, about three pounds in an adult, the liver is the largest internal organ.

It’s spongy, wedge-shaped, reddish-brown in color, and about the size of a football. The size varies based on how tall you are and how much you weigh. The liver is an essential organ, performing hundreds of functions necessary to sustain life but did you know that our liver loves lemons?

Why does the liver like lemon?

Lemon is widely used for its beneficial effects on the liver. If you do a quick search online for “lemon and liver health”, you’ll find dozens of pages featuring detox diets and cleansing programs. Lemon reduces inflammation, scavenges free radicals, and improves body’s ability to process glucose. Cool, right?

Let’s start:

Start by cleaning up your diet and losing excess weight. NAFLD, a condition that affects 20 to 30 percent of American adults, is more likely to occur in people with obesity. If left unaddressed, this disorder may lead to chronic liver disease. As the researchers point out, losing as little as 5 percent of body weight can help reduce liver fat.

Lemon = Vitamin C

The juice from one lemon contains around 30 mg of vitamin C. 30 mg is 33% of the 90 mg recommended daily allowance for males and 40% of the 75 mg RDA for females.

Lemon and other sources of Vitamin C keep us healthy in the following ways:

  • Healing capability:

Our body needs vitamin C to make collagen, a vital protein that forms part of the connective tissue we need to heal wounds. LEMON IS YOUR HEALER !!!

  • Fights infections:

Vitamin C not only reduces liver problems but also helps reduce the strength of your cold symptoms and fight disease-causing viruses and bacteria.

  • Anemic? No problem

Anemia is a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body’s tissues. Iron is essential for the cells in your body to survive and grow. Lemon water is recommended with meals to enhance iron absorption, especially for athletes and individuals with anemia

Source of Antioxidants:

Lemons contain vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, and are a source of plant compounds called flavonoids, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Antioxidants are mostly found in plant foods. They are natural molecules that help neutralize harmful free radicals in our bodies.

By reducing cell damage, antioxidants reduce the risk of many health conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Antioxidants do this by mopping up free radicals, which are harmful, disease-causing compounds in the body created by oxidative stress. Lemon also reduces inflammation in the body.

Say No to Alcohol

Over time, alcohol abuse can affect your liver’s ability to regenerate, leading to permanent damage. Alcohol consumption is often the culprit behind liver diseases. Alcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis are all potential consequences of excessive drinking. Alcohol can harm multiple organs, not just the liver.

Your heart, pancreas, and the gastrointestinal tract will suffer too. Stop consuming alcohol and replace alcohol with lemon!!!

Lemon for KIDNEYS

Lemon juice can also help prevent the development of kidney stones. The citrate, a salt, in the acid supports this preventative mechanism by binding to the calcium in your urine Consuming the equivalent of four lemons a day mixed with two liters of water was found to “significantly increase urine citrate levels.”

I hope you have got a lot of information about the liver and the benefits of lemon from this article. I write articles on health every day. Please share this article with your friends.
