How Elliot Parks treated low hemoglobin?
Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with low hemoglobin.
Elliot Parks : I became aware of a health problem for the first time while on a much-needed vacation. I had no idea that this journey would usher in a difficult yet transformative chapter in my life.
I was looking forward to a break from work and the chance to unwind and refresh, so I had been anxiously expecting this trip. However, as the days passed, I started to feel weak and exhausted all the time. Simple things that should have made me happy made me feel depleted and exhausted. It was obvious that there was a problem.
I made the decision to go for a checkup at a nearby clinic because I was worried about my waning energy. To identify the cause of my problems, the doctor suggested a battery of blood tests. I was astonished to see that my haemoglobin level was remarkably low, measuring at only 9.5, when the test results were returned. I was surprised by the diagnosis, especially since it came during a trip that was meant to be restorative.

When the red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body are reduced, low haemoglobin, or anaemia, results. It may result in weakness, exhaustion, breathlessness, and a general sensation of ill health. In my case, the symptoms were now undeniable, and I was aware that I had to act to solve the problem.
I started looking into possible reasons for my low haemoglobin levels under the direction of the clinic's medical staff. It was shown that dietary deficits, notably those in iron and vitamin B12, were triggers. My body was lacking the nutrition it needed to make healthy red blood cells.
Armed with this information, I set out on a quest to change my food and way of life. I concentrated on adding iron-rich foods like lean meats, leafy greens, and legumes to my meals. I also made sure to mention sources of vitamin B12, such as dairy products and eggs. I also looked for meals, including those high in vitamin C, that help the body absorb iron.
Dietary modifications were a crucial piece of the equation, but I knew they might not be sufficient to fast increase my haemoglobin levels. My haematologist advised iron and vitamin B12 tablets to me in order to supply the essential elements in therapeutic quantities. I took the vitamins consistently and according to the recommended dosage.
Managing low haemoglobin levels needed more than simply taking care of the bodily symptoms; it also called for a change in my perspective and general wellbeing. I realised that stress and anxiety were making my symptoms worse and preventing me from getting better. I used stress-reduction strategies in my everyday routine to combat this. I prioritised self-care, engaged in relaxation techniques, and practised mindfulness.
My family's support was essential to my path. Mark, my husband, was my pillar of support, offering constant inspiration and compassion. They encouraged me to take my vitamins, assisted me in planning and cooking nourishing meals, and provided me with emotional support when I was struggling. Even on the worst days, their love and encouragement kept me going.
I noticed a gradual improvement in my haemoglobin levels and general wellbeing over time because to a mix of dietary adjustments, supplements, stress management, and my loved ones' support. My energy levels rose, and I regained the capacity to carry out tasks that had before seemed unattainable. It served as a tribute to the strength of tenacity, self-care, and a support system.
When I think back on my path, I've discovered some important lessons about the value of paying attention to my health, getting medical help, and placing a high priority on self-care. Low haemoglobin management is a continual procedure that calls for constant monitoring and corrections. Today, I am appreciative of my achievements and the chance to tell my tale.
