How Kylie Roy treated high ggt?

Note - This article is written by one of our patients about their experiences with high ggt.

My name is Kylie Roy, and I want to tell you a personal story of how I dealt with having high GGT levels.

Due to the hard nature of my employment, I had to struggle with anxiety throughout my voyage. My mental health had already suffered from the ongoing pressure and stress. However, my worry skyrocketed when I learned that my GGT value was 112 during a normal medical examination.

I was concerned about the effects of the elevated GGT levels. My head was filled with images of liver illness, organ damage, and a shorter life expectancy. This news only made me more anxious because I already have anxiety issues.

I made the decision to educate myself about GGT and its relevance in order to get advice. Gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) is a liver-specific enzyme, as I've learned. Higher levels of GGT may be a sign of many medical disorders, alcohol misuse, or liver damage. It is crucial to remember that GGT is a signal for additional research rather than a conclusive diagnostic marker for any particular disease.

With this information in hand, I got in touch with my primary care doctor to discuss my worries and create a strategy. In order to rule out any underlying liver issues and evaluate my general health, we agreed to perform a battery of tests. This includes further blood work, an ultrasound, and a thorough liver panel.

It was stressful to wait for the test results. Every second became more and more agonising as anxiety hung over me. I used relaxation methods to deal with the stress, including deep breathing exercises, meditation, and doing things that made me happy, like painting and playing the piano. These hobbies gave me a momentary reprieve and enabled me to regain emotional control.

Contact a doctor

When the test results eventually came back, I made a follow-up appointment with my doctor. Fortunately, neither liver disease nor any other underlying issue was indicated by the data. My GGT levels continued to be high despite the fact that my liver function was within the normal range. Isolated increased GGT levels are not uncommon, and they can be influenced by a variety of things, including specific drugs, nutrition, and heredity, assuring me my doctor.

My doctor and I made the decision to concentrate on controlling my high GGT levels by making lifestyle modifications after ruling out any underlying liver issues. We talked about the value of maintaining a good diet, getting regular exercise, and limiting alcohol use. I was never a strong drinker, but I made a conscious effort to further reduce my alcohol use to support the health of my liver.

By include more fruits, veggies, and whole grains in my meals, I also made nutritional changes. I cut back on the amount of processed foods, saturated fats, and sugar I ate. Hydration became a top priority, so I started drinking enough water each day.

I started incorporating regular exercise into my routine to increase my physical activity. Exercises I enjoyed, including cycling, yoga, and jogging, started to become a regular part of my routine. Exercise not only assisted me in maintaining a healthy weight, but it also significantly reduced my tension and worry.

These lifestyle adjustments started to show progress over time. I noticed a progressive decline in my GGT levels over successive checkups. My progress was regularly watched by my doctor, and the declining trend in my GGT results gave me encouragement to keep working hard.

It was difficult to control both my elevated GGT levels and my anxiety. I confided in my loved ones and asked for their support. Sharing my concerns and anxieties with others not only gave me emotional support but also gave me access to new viewpoints and useful guidance. I also looked into several types of therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) was useful in assisting me in reframing my worried thoughts and creating efficient coping mechanisms.

My anxiety started to lessen with time. Even though I still occasionally worried, I learned to take each day as it came and to appreciate the progress I had made. I was aware that I was taking all precaution possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle and reduce the hazards.

I learned from my experience with high GGT levels the value of proactive health management and the negative effects that anxiety can have on our wellbeing. It emphasised the necessity to find appropriate coping mechanisms for stress and to ask loved ones and healthcare professionals for assistance. I still prioritise living a balanced, healthy lifestyle that prioritises both my physical and mental well-being, and I periodically check my GGT levels.
